Designed and realized by Monobitte in 2022, this showroom is located within the headquarters of a metal company in Eyüp, Istanbul. Situated on the ground floor, the space serves a dual purpose: it functions as a showroom for the display of metal ingots and accessories while also acting as the building’s foyer, reception-waiting, and meeting area. To seamlessly integrate these diverse functions, a mass composed of curvilinear platforms was designed. Starting from the reception area at the entrance, this fluid structure guides users through the foyer, exhibition, and meeting zones. The heavy metal ingots sold by the company are challenging-to-transport raw materials typically found in industrial factory settings. In the company’s previous headquarters, miniature versions of these ingots were used during sales. Although the client initially requested only a reception and meeting area for the ground floor of the new headquarters, the process evolved following a proposal to exhibit the original metal ingots. This necessitated the creation of a platform with the required structural strength and height to support these heavy products. The design aimed for a lean, spacious, dynamic, and holistic layout that accommodates multiple functions while showcasing the products. In accordance with the site’s physical conditions, the meeting and reception functions are positioned within the high-ceilinged galleries at both ends of the space. In the central volume, which has a significantly lower ceiling height, a mass that mirrors the footprint of the platform defines the area from above while creating the necessary space for mechanical requirements. Integrated with the platform, planters positioned along the facade serve to maximize natural light while establishing a boundary between the interior and exterior environments.
